Yasmin’s love for storytelling, creating, and the written word began as a child. As a six-year-old, she spent most of her time reading and attempting to write short stories. As a young adult, she began her career in journalism, gaining many years of experience reporting on issues of gender and racial equity, and diversity. She earned her Bachelor of Journalism at Ryerson University with a minor in psychology in 2017. During her undergrad, she simultaneously gained experience writing, reporting, video producing, and managing social accounts for several local publications. She then went on to write for FASHION Magazine, where she focused on gender equality, diversity, and social justice topics and further developed her skills in fact-checking and editing. She also gained extensive inclusive management and hiring experience at Levi Strauss & Co. Most recently, she has completed her Certificate in Digital Marketing Management at the University of Toronto in 2021, focusing on Search Engine Optimized (SEO) content writing, social media strategy, targeted communications, and audience engagement.
