Destiny has recently obtained her bachelor’s degree in Management and Organizational Studies with a specialization in Human Resources Management.
At CEC, Destiny works as a Strategist where she is responsible for research, report analyses, client consultations, and other qualitative assessments. As well, Destiny is working on facilitating monthly webinars, which involves recruiting speakers to participate in panels, partnering with other organizations to tackle challenging issues, and conducting research on each theme/topic. Through her work, she hopes to be able to use her lived experiences as a platform to provide insights on different projects, specifically race-related.
In 2022, Destiny is graduating university where she has obtained education in Human Resources, Psychology, and Gender and Women’s Studies. In terms of extracurriculars, Destiny has learned a lot through her engagement in her university’s Black Students Association where she played a large role in their mentorship program. She has also worked for other non-profit organizations where she gained the experience of working with individuals across several different demographics, and discussing issues pertaining to educational leadership, overcoming gender-based stereotypes, and understanding emotional intelligence. Destiny enjoys continuous learning and advocating for anti-racism, intersectionality, and overall diversity, equity, and inclusion. She is currently working toward obtaining her ‘Certified Human Resources Professional’ designation to add to her list of accomplishments.
Destiny identifies as a cisgendered, racial minority woman. She is a first generation Canadian by nationality and is ethnically biracial. Her mother is a Filipino immigrant from Taguig, Philippines. Her father is a Nigerian immigrant from Lagos, Nigeria. As fortunate as she is to be so closely connected to two different cultures, she is also challenged with navigating her life from a biracial lens, this being another stream she enjoys advocating for.
