Webinar: The Impact of Unconscious Bias in Hiring

An inclusive leadership best practice is understanding how unconscious biases can impact hiring and recruitment practices. This month, CEC is hosting a session to share ways to reduce unconscious biases in hiring, and to discuss the benefits of reducing biases in diversifying your applicant pool.

Speakers:

James Demers – Senior Strategist & Trainer, CEC: James has worked as a professional facilitator and LGBTQ+ diversity educator for 9 years and as a community builder for 14 years. Working across a variety of sectors in Treaty 7 Territory (Mo’kinsis) and around the world. He is also a trans activist, athlete, bunny dad, performer, public speaker and lucky drag producer with Fake Mustache. He has committed his life and career to uplifting LGBTQ+ voices and building bridges of understanding between all of us.

Marcie Hawranik – Founder & President, CEC: Marcie Hawranik is the recipient of the 2018 Alberta Premier’s Award of Excellence for her work to advance gender equality in Alberta. She was also recognized in 2019 and 2020 by UN Women as a SHE Innovator to advance gender equality in the world. She has expertise developing and conducting DEI customized training across a range of topics including Gender-Based Analysis Plus (GBA+), equity and inclusion tools, unconscious bias, gender budgeting, intersectionality, power/privilege, and allyship.
