DEI Calendar for April 2025

Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM)

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness about the prevalence and impact of sexual violence and to support prevention efforts.

This year, we’re proud to support the Moments Matter campaign in partnership with the CEC. The campaign offers CHPR-approved training, resources, and education that empower workplaces to address sexual violence, support survivors, and build a culture of respect and safety.

HR teams play a critical role in fostering a safe work environment. Use this month to review your harassment and reporting policies, offer training, and reinforce your organization’s commitment to psychological safety.

Autism Acceptance Month

April also marks Autism Acceptance Month—a time to shift the conversation from awareness to acceptance and inclusion. It’s a moment to celebrate neurodiversity and ensure that autistic individuals feel welcomed, understood, and supported in all spaces, including the workplace.

This is a great time to assess your recruitment, onboarding, and workplace accessibility practices. Inclusive hiring policies and sensory-friendly spaces are just a few ways to create a more supportive environment.

Equal Pay Day (Canada) – April 8

Equal Pay Day marks the date when the average woman in Canada has finally earned what the average man earned in the previous year. It’s a reminder of the ongoing gender pay gap and the systemic inequities that contribute to it.

Use this day to conduct (or plan) a pay equity audit, review compensation policies, and commit to transparent, equitable pay practices across your organization.

International Day of Pink – April 9

This day is a stand against bullying, discrimination, homophobia, and transphobia in all forms. People around the world wear pink to show their support for 2SLGBTQIA+ inclusion and to speak out against hate.

This is a great opportunity to highlight your workplace’s commitment to 2SLGBTQIA+ inclusion, update your anti-discrimination policies, and invite speakers or host discussions that foster allyship. Take our free Supporting Gender Diverse Communities e-course.

World Day for Safety and Health at Work – April 28

Organized by the International Labour Organization, this day promotes safe, healthy, and decent working conditions worldwide.

It’s a timely moment to review your workplace safety policies—physical and psychological. Consider launching a wellness campaign or inviting employees to share feedback on safety practices.

Creating Inclusive Culture, Together

April’s DEI calendar reminds us that inclusion, equity, and safety aren’t just values—they’re everyday practices that shape how we lead, connect, and support one another at work. Whether you’re planning internal campaigns or reflecting on your organization’s policies, this month offers powerful opportunities to lead with intention.
