Canadian Equality Consulting’s President & Founder Marcie Hawranik Featured on CBC Edmonton AM Radio Discussing Bill 13 and Its Impact on EDI Training.

Canadian Equality Consulting (CEC) is proud to share that Marcie Hawranik, President & Founder, was featured on CBC Edmonton AM to discuss Alberta’s Bill 13. Proposed legislation that would limit the powers of professional regulatory bodies to require diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) training.

In her interview, Marcie unpacked how Bill 13 could reshape professional regulation across Alberta, potentially reducing accountability for inclusive practices and weakening safeguards that ensure fairness and trust in workplaces and regulated professions.

Marcie emphasized that DEI is not ideological, but a business and professional imperative.

“Professionals need to understand the diversity of the world we live in, how to communicate across cultures, and how to make their professions more accessible to all,” said Hawranik. “That’s not a controversial doctrine. It’s a reality of today’s world and a necessity to be successful.”

Canadian Equality Consulting continues to partner with organizations and professional associations nationwide to integrate DEI into leadership, HR, and regulatory frameworks. Moving from compliance to culture and intention to impact.
